Solar power for pool villas in Phuket
— cut your biggest running cost

The pool pump, the aircon, the water heaters — a pool villa's electricity bill is usually its single largest running cost. In Phuket's sun, a well-sized rooftop solar system erases most of it. We design, install and maintain villa solar systems across Phuket, Phang Nga and Krabi, and handle every PEA permit for you.

Quick answer

Pool villas in Phuket typically pay 10,000–40,000+ THB per month for electricity. A 10–20 kW rooftop solar system usually covers most daytime consumption — pool pump, aircon, staff loads — and pays for itself in around 4–7 years, followed by decades of low-cost power (panel performance warranties run 25–30 years). Every villa is different, so we start with a free site survey and a written savings estimate in THB.

Why villas win

A pool villa is the perfect solar customer

Most homes use electricity in the evening, when panels produce nothing. Pool villas are the opposite — their biggest loads run right through the middle of the day.

Pool pump = daytime load A pool pump runs 6–8 hours a day, almost always in daylight — exactly when your roof is producing. It's the most solar-friendly appliance there is.
Aircon ≈ 65% of the bill In tropical villas, air-conditioning is typically around 65% of total electricity use — and afternoon cooling demand lines up with peak solar output.
Big roof, strong sun Villas have generous roof area for a 10–20 kW array, and Phuket averages 4.5–5 peak sun hours per day, year round.
High tariff = fast payback Grid electricity in Thailand costs around 4.3 THB per unit at household rates. Every unit your roof produces is a unit you don't buy — which is why paybacks of 4–7 years are typical.
System sizing

What size system does a pool villa need?

A quick guide based on the loads we see in Phuket villas. Your monthly bill is the best starting point — the survey confirms the rest.

Typical villa load Power draw Daily pattern
Pool pump 1–2 kW 6–8 hours, daytime — a near-perfect match for solar
Air-conditioning 1–2.5 kW per unit, several units Afternoon and evening; usually ~65% of the total bill
Water heaters 2–4 kW each Short bursts, morning and evening
Kitchen, laundry, lighting, Wi-Fi Mixed Throughout the day, higher when the villa is occupied
10 kW Bills roughly 10,000–18,000 THB/month — smaller pool villa, moderate aircon use
15 kW Bills roughly 18,000–28,000 THB/month — 3–4 bedroom villa, pool pump plus several aircon units running daily
20 kW Bills roughly 28,000–40,000+ THB/month — large or multi-pavilion villa, high occupancy, heavy daytime use

Every villa is different — roof orientation, shading and how the villa is used all change the answer. Get a free site survey and we'll put a written savings estimate in THB in your hands. Our savings calculator is in Thai, but the numbers are universal if you'd like to experiment.

Hybrid + battery

Uninterrupted power for your guests

Phuket's grid is good but not perfect — brief outages and brownouts happen, and a villa full of paying guests is the worst possible time.

A hybrid system with battery storage solves two problems at once: it stores surplus midday solar for the evening (when guests are back from the beach and every aircon is on), and it takes over instantly during a grid outage — lights, Wi-Fi, fridges and selected aircon circuits keep running without anyone noticing. For villa work we typically install Deye hybrid inverters paired with lithium battery storage. The spec page is in Thai, but the manufacturer datasheet PDF linked there is in English.

For rental villas, solar is also a marketing asset. A lower electricity cost per occupied night improves your margin directly, "solar-powered eco villa" is a genuine differentiator in listings, and app monitoring lets you — or your villa manager — watch production and consumption from anywhere in the world.

How it works

From survey to switch-on in five steps

  1. 1 · Free site survey
We visit the villa, inspect the roof and shading, and review your electricity bills — or coordinate directly with your villa manager if you're abroad.
  2. 2 · Design & written savings estimate
A system designed to engineering standards and sized to your real usage, with a written savings estimate and itemised quote in THB — in English.
  3. 3 · PEA permits — handled for you
Phuket is served by the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA). We prepare and submit all paperwork, including engineer-certified drawings for PEA permits, so the connection is fully legal.
  4. 4 · Installation with coastal-grade equipment
Corrosion-resistant mounting and coastal-rated components suited to salt air, installed and safety-tested with minimal disruption to guests or staff.
  5. 5 · Handover, monitoring & aftercare
App monitoring set up on your phone (and your manager's), plus maintenance and panel-cleaning options. Panel performance warranties from major brands run 25–30 years.
FAQ

Questions villa owners ask us

Can you work with my villa manager while I'm abroad?

Yes — this is normal for us. Many villa owners are overseas for most of the year. We coordinate the survey, installation schedule and handover directly with your villa manager or rental agency, and keep you updated by email or LINE with photos at each stage. The final savings estimate and quote come to you in writing, in English.

Will the installation disturb my guests?

A typical 10–20 kW villa installation takes a few days on-site, and most of the work happens on the roof, away from pool and living areas. We can schedule around your booking calendar — many owners choose a gap between guest stays or the low season. The final grid changeover requires only a brief, planned power interruption.

Does drilling into a tile roof cause leaks?

Not when it's done properly. We use mounting systems designed for the roof type — hooks that sit under tiles rather than through them where possible — and seal every penetration with purpose-made flashing and sealant. Workmanship on the roof attachment is covered by our installation warranty, and we inspect the roofline as part of aftercare visits.

Will salt air near the beach corrode the system?

Salt spray and coastal humidity are real considerations in Phuket, especially for beachfront and hillside-sea villas. We specify corrosion-resistant anodised-aluminium mounting, stainless fasteners and equipment rated for coastal environments, and offer periodic maintenance and panel cleaning to keep output high for decades.

How do I monitor the system from overseas?

Every system we install includes app-based monitoring (for example the Deye or Huawei monitoring apps). From anywhere in the world you can see live production, battery charge level, household consumption and full history on your phone — and we can also watch the system remotely and flag anything unusual.

Own property up the coast? We also install across the Khao Lak and Phang Nga area — see our Khao Lak & Phang Nga solar page, or start from our English home page.
